Job Summary

As a McKinney‑Vento Outreach Coordinator you will be assigned to support all McKinney‑Vento students within a high school network. The main goal for this position is to enhance every child's education and learning experience by strengthening the partnership between schools, families, and the community.

Attendance and physical presence are required and is an essential function of this position.

Essential Functions
  • Facilitate a warm and welcoming environment for all McKinney‑Vento students and families.
  • Build positive relationships with the community, parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and co‑workers.
  • Work with community partners.
  • Work independently using initiative based on needs as well as collaboratively with school, community, and district personnel.
  • Inform patrons/families of available school, GSD, and community resources/services.
  • Assist assigned students/families with SEP/SEOP/APTT meetings.
  • Facilitate partnerships and involvement between parents, school, and school‑parent organizations.
  • Assist families with registration.
  • First line of contact for schools within the assigned network who have questions about McKinney‑Vento services.
  • Travel to different schools within the assigned network to meet with students experiencing homelessness to ensure they are attending school and have everything they need to be successful in school.
  • Submit supplies requests to the McKinney‑Vento assistant.
  • Collaborate with the McKinney‑Vento Program Coordinator and the McKinney‑Vento assistant on students and families needing extra assistance.
  • Attend case staffing meetings and professional development meetings.
  • Attend Student Support Team Meetings and Multi‑tiered Systems of Support Meetings within assigned networks.
  • Attend IEP meetings of McKinney‑Vento students within assigned networks.
  • Successfully complete all required documentation on daily tasks and interactions with students and families.
Non‑Essential Functions
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge And Skills

Experience working with schools and families preferred.

Required Education And Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Supervisory Responsibility

McKinney‑Vento Outreach Coordinators will oversee McKinney‑Vento case loads in their assigned network.

Physical Requirements Not Limited To The Following
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Employee may be asked to assist with food pantry set up that would require lifting no more than 20 lbs.
