Job Summary: The Elementary PE Instructor supervises and teaches elementary students, ensuring compliance with program requirements, assisting with parent education programs, and coordinating communications with parents.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent
- Highly Qualified per ESSA, with one of the following:
- At least two years at an accredited higher education institution (minimum 48 semester hours)
- An associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- A state or local assessment score of at least 460
- Hold or obtain CPR/First Aid Certificate within six months of hire
- Knowledge of classroom management and ability to operate standard office equipment, including phone, copier, Microsoft Office, Power School
- Consistently maintained composure and patience in challenging situations
- Effective communication skills in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding grammar and punctuation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a K-12 special education or public employment environment
- Proficiency in Spanish or another language
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Instruct students in the development of physical skills, operating PE equipment, and playground activities per state core curriculum
- Monitor students in various settings to provide a safe, positive learning environment
- Implement students’ learning and behavior plans, ensuring compliance with IEPs and health care plans
- Prepare teaching materials, document student progress, and apply assessment instruments
- Perform record-keeping and clerical functions to support administrators
- Assess student learning and participation to provide quality, age‑appropriate instruction
- Manage student behavior, report incidents, and ensure compliance with policies and laws
- Supervise academic enrichment activities and guide students in enhancing learning
- Collaborate with school personnel and parents to improve student outcomes
- Assist other personnel as needed to create an efficient work environment
- Interpret guidelines, communicate orally and in writing, maintain confidentiality, set priorities, work as part of a team, and adapt to changing priorities
- Participate in meetings to receive and convey information
- Perform other related duties as assigned
