As an Outreach Worker you will be assigned to oversee a Family Engagement Center. The main goal for this position is to enhance every child's education and learning experience by strengthening the partnership between schools, families, and the community. This position will be located at Kearns High School.
Essential Functions- Facilitate a warm and welcoming Family Engagement Center
- Build positive relationships with the community, parents, students, teachers, staff, administrators, and co-workers.
- Coordinate basic needs resources
- Work with Community Partners
- Teach academic and functional support skills to adults using district approved curriculum. Including but not limited to the following classes:
- Adult ESL
- Computer
- Together Time
- Family communication/advocacy
- Parenting
- Parent involvement in school- gradebook, portal, etc…
- Attend assigned meetings
- Assist principals and school community councils with partnership activities that meet the goals of their school parent involvement plan.
- Work independently using initiative based on needs as well as collaboratively with school/community/district personnel.
- Inform patrons/families of available school, GSD, and Community resources/services.
- Assist assigned schools with SEP/SEOP/ APTT meetings.
- Facilitate partnerships and involvement between parents, school, and school-parent organizations.
- Turn in monthly reports
- Other duties as assigned
- SPANISH SPEAKING ABILITY STRONGLY PREFERRED
High school diploma or equivalent

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Employee may be asked to assist with food pantry set up that would require lifting no more than 20 lbs.
