Adjunct Chinese Language Instructor
Face-to-face position to teach first- and second-year Chinese courses with the potential to teach third- and fourth-year Chinese courses. We are looking for an adjunct to join our World Languages team to teach one or more sections a semester. The new instructor will be supported by our World Languages Coordinator. Our language courses are flipped, communicative, and active-learning-based. Cultural competence is necessary (e.g., how to navigate racial and sexual diversity in the target culture, including gender-neutral language).
Candidates need to be available to teach physically in the classroom on our Taylorsville Redwood Campus. Specific days and times are negotiable. Instructors are required to serve for a minimum of one hour a week at the Center for Languages as part of their teaching load. This is a pooled position. The department reviews applications as positions become available. Pooled positions re-open every year.
We encourage all interested to apply to re-posted adjunct positions. This position is paid at $1,056 per instructional unit. In accordance with SLCC policy, adjunct positions are offered on a semester-by-semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment. Official transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within 30 days of hire.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment. New employees must provide a valid Utah residential address within 30 days of their start date.
