This position will primarily provide support to PreK students.
JOB SUMMARYThe Paraprofessional II
- Special Education works with students in small groups on specific subjects and leads lesson plans. This position supports teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of special education students in resource classrooms including assisting students with special health care needs and developing students’ daily living and behavioral skills while promoting a welcoming and positive learning environment where all students can thrive.
To be successful in this role, the incumbent must demonstrate patience and the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check. Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:
- High school diploma or a recognized equivalent
- Per Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), interested applicants must be Highly Qualified to be considered for the position and have completed one of the following:
- completed at least two years at an accredited higher education institution (minimum 48 semester hours), or
- obtained an associates (or higher) degree from an accredited higher education institution, or
- satisfied a rigorous state or local assessment (Parapro Assessment/PRAXIS ETS) with a score of 460 or higher
- Hold or obtain CPR & First Aid Certificate within 2 months of hire
- Complete Safety Care Training
- Attend Annual Health Services Training
- Effective communication skills with both children and adults, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English; proficiency in grammar and punctuation
- Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios
- Experience using standard office equipment (e.g., phone, copier, fax, etc.) and Microsoft Office.

- Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment
- Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand
