Assistant / Associate Professor in the College of Social Work Details
The University of Utah College of Social Work (“College”) invites applications for multiple 9-month open rank tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor with responsibilities in scholarly research and instruction at the undergraduate (BSW) and graduate (MSW) levels. The College is interested in candidates whose innovative ideas and research agendawill support students' transformation of policies, practice, and interventions to alleviate human suffering, enhance well-being, and promote social justice.
The College is interested in candidates whose teaching focuses on mental health; child welfare; substance use and addictions; organizations and communities; diversity, human rights, and social justice; and technology in social work practice;however, candidates with teaching interests and/or expertise inother areas are encouraged to apply. The candidates selected forthese positions will be outstanding scholars—with a strongscholarly record and external funding agenda; and teachers—with arecord of excellence in teaching and student support—consistent with the appropriate rank of faculty appointment for which they are applying.
This is an “in person” position, and the successful candidate will work on site at the College in Salt Lake City.

Required QualificationsApplicants must have a doctoral degree in social work or a closely related field by the time of appointment; an MSW degree is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a record of publishing;commitment to applying for and securing extramural funding; recordof excellence in teaching; and record of professional and community service. Applicants who are ABD may also apply if successfuldefense of the dissertation occurs prior to appointment.
Successful candidates will have at least two years of full-time, post-master'sprofessional social work experience, enabling them to teachpractice courses.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses during falland spring semester.
- Prepare, design, and deliver lectures and course content.
- Utilize innovative and inclusive teaching methods to engage diverse learners
- Facilitate class discussions and activities.
- Create and administer course assignments, examinations, andother assessments.
- Proactively engage with and support the success of students
- Support and contribute to curriculum development efforts asneeded for courses
- Ensure the quality of teaching by engaging in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Conduct original research in social work or related fields.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, books, or otherscholarly outlets.
- Seek external funding through grants to support research initiatives.
- Present research at academic conferences and professionalgatherings.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program accreditation efforts.
- Engage with the local community and professional organizations to promote social work values.
- Create and maintain cooperative, collaborative, and effective working relationships with administrators, faculty members, andstaff in the delivery of courses and programs.
- Participate in college and university committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the dean.
