As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering impactful energy efficiency projects. You will develop and review engineering calculations related to energy usage and savings, ranging from basic to advanced levels of complexity. This role involves conducting fieldwork to verify existing equipment, assess replacements, and identify potential energy-saving opportunities across building systems.

You will demonstrate technical expertise in the operation and function of major HVAC components, lighting systems, and renewable energy technologies relevant to energy engineering. Your work will leverage standard methodologies for estimating energy usage and savings, contributing to high-quality deliverables and project outcomes.

In addition to technical execution, you will maintain regular interaction with clients and on-site personnel, representing the company with professionalism and clarity. You will also provide supervision and mentorship to Engineers and Project Engineers, offering support and guidance as needed to ensure successful project delivery. This role operates under the direction of an Engineering Manager or higher, with opportunities for increasing responsibility and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review engineering calculations to evaluate energy usage and savings, from basic to advanced levels of complexity.
  • Analyze relationships between energy use and independent variables.
  • Apply deep knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting technologies, and control strategies to assess building performance and identify energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Conduct and lead energy audits, field assessments, and verification activities to support project development and implementation.
  • Perform quality control reviews of engineering analyses, reports, and deliverables prepared by junior staff members.
  • Supervise and mentor Engineers and Project Engineers, providing guidance on technical tasks and project execution.
  • Interact regularly with clients, staff, and Vice Presidents to gather information, present findings, and represent the firm in a technical leadership capacity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal tools, methods, and workflows to enhance analytical quality and operational efficiency.

What you Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field required; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., PE, CEM) preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in energy engineering, building systems, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of energy use drivers and the ability to analyze relationships between energy consumption and independent variables.
  • Demonstrated expertise in engineering principles, building systems (HVAC, lighting, controls), and energy savings calculations.
  • Proven ability to lead technical work, manage project tasks, and mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical findings to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with energy modeling tools, scripting, or data analysis software a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
