About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Engineer - Mining with excellent mine design, planning, and scheduling skills to provide support to underground mining operations and lead short-range development and production planning activities.

This role is a great opportunity to lead the establishment and execution of planning systems, develop stakeholder engagement skills, and acquire project management tools and business improvement experience. Reporting to the Superintendent of Mining Engineer, you will:

* Be responsible for planning and scheduling activities to support short-range planning horizon

* Lead and perform detailed design of mine development

* Oversee the design of stope drilling and production plans

* Lead weekly planning initiatives

* Review design and schedule compliance to plan

* Identify improvement opportunities and drive them through implementation

* Stakeholder management and engagement on schedules and designs to ensure scope is being achieved on time and on budget

* Aid in the professional development and mentoring of your direct reports and other young engineers in the team

What you'll bring

* Tertiary degree qualification in mining engineering or relevant discipline

* At least 7 years underground mining experience with 5 years in underground planning

* A commitment to your safety and that of your team and the greater Kennecott operation

* Visionary, adaptive and people-centric leadership that is based on Care, Courage, and Curiosity

* Technical and operational understanding of underground mine operating practices and the impact of the mining operations on value chain outcomes

* In-depth understanding of engineering and a track record of generating practical and innovative solutions to multi-faceted technical challenges

* Proven ability to operate independently and in small multi-discipline teams

* Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate and influence with integrity

* Ability to build collaborative relationships within teams

* Strong background with CAD and scheduling packages; advantageous to have experience with Deswik CAD and Sched

Where you'll be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, tellurium and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903 and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
