Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects. They communicate these to internal and external customers, define and transfer manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems, and develop manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. They participate with engineering project teams to coordinate release of new products, estimate and track manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements.

They maintain records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions
  • Review design requirements, drawings, and parts lists for manufacturability.
  • Create processes to meet design and workmanship requirements.
  • Evaluate tooling needs and availability.
  • Assist Cable manufacturing’s First Time Build team in building initial unit builds and prototype cable assemblies; update processes as needed.
  • Review problem reports; make improvements and corrections to process as warranted.
  • Provide input on Engineering Change Requests; implement changes into processes.
  • Determine root cause of failures and drive corrective actions.
  • Collect and analyze quality related data and offer corrective actions to help eliminate future defects from occurring.
  • Participate in process improvement activities.
  • Write and update workmanship standards.
  • Provide input on engineering specifications.
  • Support OT (nights, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet schedule requirements.
  • Ensure company financial goals are met through timely completion of processes, projects, and other initiatives.
  • Work on‑site in support of manufacturing team.
Required Qualifications (one of the following)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline (such as Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.) from an accredited school and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Experience in cable/harness process engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cable manufacturing techniques and IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, class 3 workmanship requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend schematics, wire lists, wire diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Advanced technical and operational knowledge and experience in manufacturing highly technical devices.
  • Strong technical SAP ME, SAP ECC and Teamcenter experience.
