Job Title: Senior Process Controls Engineer
Location: Multiple Project Sites (Travel Required)
Job Type: Full-Time
OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Controls Engineer to support engineering design, automation, and commissioning efforts across a range of heavy industrial facilities, including processing plants, gas compression sites, and mining operations. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys both hands‑on fieldwork and high‑level system design.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support engineering teams on complex controls and automation projects
- Design and review instrumentation and control systems for industrial facilities
- Develop network architecture, loop diagrams, P&IDs, control narratives, and cause & effect documentation
- Program and configure PLC, HMI, DCS, and SCADA systems
- Design and optimize process control strategies and automation systems
- Troubleshoot control systems and equipment issues in the field
- Support commissioning and start‑up activities at project sites
- Ensure project documentation is complete and aligned with scope requirements
- Identify system deficiencies and manage punch list resolution
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5–10+ years of experience in process controls engineering
- Strong experience with PLC platforms such as Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or Modicon
- Experience with DCS systems such as Delta
V, Honeywell, or ABB - Ability to develop PLC logic and configure HMI/DCS systems from scratch
- Strong understanding of process control loops (flow, pressure, level, temperature, etc.)
- Proficiency reading and interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control narratives
- Experience with plant commissioning and start‑up
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, ISA, IEC, etc.)
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills
- Leadership experience in guiding engineering teams
- Deep understanding of industrial process systems (oil & gas, mining, or similar)
- Commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Up to 50% travel (domestic and international)
- Work performed in industrial environments with varying conditions (heat, cold, confined spaces, heights)
- Exposure to noise, vibration, and industrial chemicals
- May require extended or irregular hours based on project demands
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence technical decisions
