Responsibilities
  • Lead, assign, and review the work of the project delivery team; check progress and identify changes in scope.
  • Serve as Task Lead or Design Engineer on large‑scale highway, bridge, and/or trail projects with multiple disciplines and sub‑consultants.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.
  • Collaborate with West Region transportation leads on regionally significant projects.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, conduct studies and design calculations, and support all aspects of an engineering project.
  • Implement existing QA/QC procedures and participate in further development of the QA/QC program for transportation improvement projects.
  • Participate in project scoping and fee estimating for design contracts.
  • Assist with write‑ups and exhibits for technical and risk considerations on proposals for design engineering contracts.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of roadway design experience for highways and streets.
  • Licensed or eligible for Professional Engineer license in the State of Utah within six months.
  • Solid background leading roadway design with demonstrated interdisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Trail design experience is a plus.
  • Preferred experience on UDOT and local agency transportation projects.
  • Experience with Open Roads Designer required; experience with AutoCAD Civil3D is a plus.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self‑motivated, can work independently, and enjoys teamwork.

Physical Requirements
