Product Engineer

Job Overview

At GE Health Care Salt Lake City site, engineering, research, and manufacturing teams design and build surgical imaging technologies, including advanced C-arm imaging systems supporting image-guided procedures worldwide. The Product Engineer evaluates and investigates product issues from customer complaints or non-conformances, improving product quality and regulatory compliance.

• Diagnose and investigate field issues arising from customer complaints.
• Conduct thorough root cause analysis to resolve product safety, quality, and performance issues in clinical environments.
• Track status and communicate progress to the IB engineering leader, coordinating with customers, supplier quality, manufacturing, field service, complaint handling team, and engineers.
• Participate in reviewing closure criteria for complaints and continuously improve the complaint handling process.
• Perform data analysis to characterize issues within the product portfolio and direct design/ process changes to improve products.
• Use computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, AI and online tools for analysis.

• Comply with GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, laws, and regulations applicable to the position.
• Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within defined deadlines.
• Identify and report quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
• Support compliance/closure of regulatory and quality requirements before completing design outputs/program deliverables.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.

• BS in Engineering (any discipline) or equivalent experience (defined as a High School Diploma/GED + 4 years in medical device industry).
• Ability to investigate, analyze and resolve product or process issues.
• Proven ability to lead, influence, and partner effectively in a diverse global, collaborative, cross-functional environment.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, organization, planning and leadership skills.
• Process focus and continuous improvement orientation.
• Willingness to work full-time at the Salt Lake City, Utah facility.

• Two years’ engineering experience in medical device industry or equivalent safety-critical industry.
• Understanding of IEC 60601-1 and related patient parameter standards.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485 or 21 CFR related regulations.
• Self-starter, energizing, results-oriented, and able to multi-task.
• Excellent teamwork, coordination, and communication skills; effective oral and written communication.
• Global project experience; circuit design and simulation tool experience.
