We are seeking a Pipeline Project Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting natural gas pipeline projects ranging from $5M to $50M in capital value. This individual will work within a department of four professionals (two engineers and two project advisors) and collaborate with a broader program team of approximately 20 personnel, including pipeline inspectors and engineering support groups.
Projects primarily involve steel pipelines ranging from 6" to 24" in diameter, with some larger projects extending up to three years in duration. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects simultaneously while supporting pipeline design, engineering analysis, project execution, and stakeholder coordination.
Training & DevelopmentThe selected candidate will participate in a structured onboarding program and receive hands‑on training through cross‑functional collaboration with experienced engineers and project personnel. Training includes:
- Reviewing project scope and design requirements
- Understanding federal code and compliance requirements
- Coordinating with Integrity Engineering and other support groups
- Learning internal project processes, budgeting tools, and engineering standards
- Support the design and engineering of steel pipeline systems.
- Perform engineering analyses, including stress calculations and load evaluations, to ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations and industry standards.
- Work closely with drafting and design teams to develop and align pipeline designs.
- Interface with internal stakeholders to gather technical requirements and ensure safe, reliable pipeline construction.
- Coordinate project activities from design through execution.
- Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
- Review and procure project materials while considering lead times and project schedules.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, and progress using Oracle and other project management tools.
- Support proposal development, technical documentation, and engineering reports.
- Manage and prioritize 2–3 projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and schedule commitments.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and project management skills.
- Experience managing schedules, milestones, procurement activities, and project deliverables.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience performing engineering calculations and technical analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Experience with Pipeline Toolbox software for pipeline stress calculations and engineering analysis.
- Familiarity with project budgeting and tracking systems such as Oracle.
- Experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator (or similar pipeline modeling software).
- Previous experience supporting pipeline design, transmission, distribution, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of pipeline construction practices and applicable federal regulations.
- Project values typically range from $5M to $50M.
- Majority of projects involve 6"–24" diameter steel pipelines.
