Job DescriptionThe Integration and Test Engineer will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, overhauling, calibrating, and repairing technically complex mechanical, electro‑mechanical, and electronic sonar components using a variety of test equipment and custom test sets. Following diagnostics, the engineer will provide work instructions to technicians for repair of various sensors, electro‑mechanical systems, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and will maintain and design test sets as required.
EssentialFunctions
- Plan and direct component testing of complex sonar systems under limited supervision.
- Work with the test operations team and internal customers to develop test operations methodologies and processes.
- Design and maintain test equipment, fixtures, and test systems.
- Create and maintain test operations procedures, specifications, and schematics.
- Direct test technicians, analyze and validate test results, and write test reports.
- Primary responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, and repair of complex sonar systems and test sets.
- Document test findings and diagnose problems utilizing a variety of test equipment.
- Provide input for process improvements and development of top‑level test procedures.
- Develop subassembly test procedures as needed.
- Construct, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment used to support sonar testing/tuning.
- Prepare and review design documentation according to contract requirements and internal standards.
- Assist the Purchasing Department with procurement of test‑related items as necessary.
- Contribute to technical proposal efforts, test readiness reviews, and design readiness reviews.
- Assist in estimates for manpower and other resource factors for related tasks; provide tasking inputs to support Integrated Master Schedule creation and maintenance.
- Support the assembly and integration of products/systems; support mechanical system and component alignment, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation.
- Ensure quality through adherence to the Quality Systems Manual, applicable Standard Work Instructions, and other internally or contractually invoked standards.
- Work independently and verify work performed by peers.
- Analyze complex circuit diagrams.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Proficiency with LabVIEW, Solid Works, MATLAB, Minitab, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline with 6+ years of engineering experience; or a Graduate Degree with at least 4 years of experience; or 12 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience with a wide variety of test equipment, such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, DMMs, DAQs, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Expertise in using LabVIEW to communicate with instrumentation and analog/digital data acquisition systems.
- Experience diagnosing and debugging circuit cards.
- Preferred: experience evaluating and repairing power supplies.
- Robust exposure to acoustic and sonar systems and theory.
- Experience with dipping sonar, towed bodies, and arrays.
- Knowledge and use of piezoelectric ceramic transducers (hydrophones, projectors, etc.).
- Proficiency with software protocols such as Python, C++, and other scripting languages.
- Certified LabVIEW Developer or Architect.
- Excellent written, oral, presentation, and teamwork skills.
