Job Description
As an Estimator you will prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for one or more disciplines, including the determination of applicable project plans and specifications. Disciplines may include plumbing, piping or sheet metal systems. You may independently estimate a small to medium sized plan/spec, design assist or design build projects.
Responsibilities include developing proposals and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate; estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity; and analyzing blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Prepare complete takeoffs of scope of work and required contents of the estimate, review proposal specifications and drawings to confirm scope, and, where applicable, review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
Develop and deliver accurate project cost estimates, assess cost effectiveness by comparing actual costs to bids throughout the project, and prepare cost and expenditure statements and related documentation at regular intervals.
Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures, review material and labor requirements to determine most cost-effective outcomes, obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors while adhering to scope and specification, and document account activities by generating reports and maintaining records of business transactions with customers and suppliers.
Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures. Collaborate with other department personnel as required, potentially preparing estimates in other disciplines, and contribute to the desired culture and a safety‑centric work environment within the organization.
QualificationsAssociate’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred, or 1–5 years of equivalent experience.
1+ years of estimating, engineering or trade experience related to mechanical engineering and 2+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office – Word and Excel.

Pay Range: $54,019.90 – $81,029.85. The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
