Principal Technical Consultant
The Principal Consultant is an expert and lead in technical consults, overseeing and writing client projects to safeguard global health. Responsibilities include reviewing, writing, and researching client deliverables such as product adoptions, test plans, and FDA responses.
Essential Duties Consulting- Review and write assessments and other related documents (e.g. product adoptions, test plans, FDA responses)
- In preparation for assessment deliverables, work cross‑functionally with other departments to guide where expertise is necessary
- Communicate with the client to obtain additional information for projects or related testing
- Perform literature research
- Build and implement process improvements
- Know and follow the Nelson Service Standard and Code of Ethics
- Act as a mentor to develop peer experts and as an expert to lead the scientific direction of Nelson Labs
- Understand global capabilities and competencies, including networking with other facilities
- Be an expert in specific areas of consultation
- Present at Nelson Labs seminars and other presentations
- Maintain diversity in consultation areas
- Know and follow applicable regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, AAMI, ASTM, etc.)
- Participate in committee meetings as appropriate, including US ISO delegate as appropriate
- Present at Nelson and other seminars as appropriate
- Know and follow company policies and procedures
- Complete required training on time
- Lead the industry as an expert
- Attend work regularly and reliably
- Adhere to all policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Knowledge and experience with public literature searches

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), email, and internet usage
Occasional travel during the business day; some out‑of‑area and overnight travel may be expected, including domestic and international trade shows, seminars, client visits, and conferences.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to stand/walk for 10% of the day and sit at a desk or computer for 90% of the day. Must be able to attend trade shows, seminars, standards meetings, client visits, and conferences, and occasionally lift up to 45 lb. Modified work hours may be required to cover travel and work in other time zones.
Education and Experience RequirementsAdvanced degree in a related scientific field, or a relevant bachelor’s degree, plus 10 years of related work experience. Strong understanding and ability to apply sterilization or other appropriate principles preferred.
