Lead Automation Design Engineer

Location:

Salt Lake City, Grantsville, I Automation Engineering

The Lead Automation Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design and execution of automation engineering projects across disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, electronics, and software applications. The role provides technical leadership and oversight to a team of design engineers, ensuring all project requirements, specifications, schedules, and installation plans are successfully achieved. The position partners closely with the Senior Manager of Automation to support overall strategy, design direction, and successful implementation of automation systems.

Responsibilities
  • Leads and oversees the work of a group of Automation Design Engineers
  • Reviews and approves design drawings, user manual, and installation manual
  • Works closely with Project Manager/Engineer to meet project timeline and budget
  • Leads the team in review, understanding and interpretation of requirements to ensure all specifications are integrated into the design of automation equipment
  • Leads design engineers in review of design and manufacturability of design
  • Ensures all engineering times are logged into JP2 and correspond to the projects
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education
  • B.Sc. in Mechanical or Electronics/Electrical Engineering
Experience
  • Minimum 8-10 years of working experience in automation equipment design and installation OR an equivalent combination of education, training or experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Expert knowledge in mechanical, electronics, electrical, and software application engineering
  • Expert knowledge in the EMS industries
  • Expert knowledge in automation design and installation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale automation projects
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
