We’re seeking a West Region Mining Practice Lead who is a Seller/Doer with a key focus on Technical Leadership, Project Management, Program Building, Staff Growth, and Business Development.
Responsibilities- Lead project management, technical support, and program building for greenfield and brownfield mining projects.
- Provide technical leadership to guide project teams on approach, requirements, and scope, ensuring successful project completion.
- Monitor and communicate project status to HDR operations leadership and coordinate with internal teams to assemble and onboard the right multi‑disciplinary members.
- Expand the program service offerings within the West Region through collaboration with area and national teams and by training and mentoring newer team members.
- Engage in client interaction, including awareness of client challenges and positioning technical value during proposals and project completion.
- Recruit and develop personnel to grow the Mining Practice in the West Region and expand capabilities.
- Represent HDR as an active member of local and regional organizations, presenting at industry events and collaboratively developing proposals.
- Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering, or closely related field.
- 10 years of experience in a related field.
- Maintains a professional or engineering registration and related technical experience.
- Experience developing and managing diverse teams.
- Works cooperatively with other business class regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.

- Has an attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture.
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer licensed in at least one state (multiple preferred).
- 15+ years of related industry experience.
- 10+ years of mining project management experience.
- Experience managing mining projects to successful conclusion (budget, schedule, safety, quality).
- Familiarity with multiple commodities, soft and hard‑rock mining operations, studies, design, and execution from exploration to closure and reclamation.
- MSHA certification.
- Experience with open pit and underground mines, hard rock, soft rock, and industrial minerals consulting and operations.
- Experience with block modeling software.
- Experience working for a mine operating company.

Salary: $175,000 - $200,000 (based on experience and location).
