Job Summary

With moderate institutional and departmental knowledge, this position works within the Robotics and SIME programs to coordinate a diverse population of students regarding their academic planning and progress.

The Robotics Program is an interdisciplinary collaboration between constituent departments (Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the Kahlert School of Computing) within the Price College of Engineering, and is currently administrated by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. At the undergraduate level, students may earn a Minor or Certificate in Robotics. At the graduate level, students may earn a Certificate, M.S. (Project), M.S. (Thesis), or Ph.D. in Robotics.

Students may also do a concurrent B.S./M.S. with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Robotics.

The SIME Program (Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Engineering Management) is hosted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In Systems engineering, students may earn a M.S. degree (MSSE), a graduate certificate (GCSE), or an undergraduate certificate (UCSE). In Engineering Management, students may earn a Masters degree (MEM) or a graduate certificate (GCEM). Students may also do a concurrent B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with the MSSE or MEM degrees.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to support students pursuing graduate degrees in Robotics and SIME, but this position should also involve coordinating with existing undergraduate and graduate advisors in Mechanical Engineering and other affiliated departments.

This position will assist the University in promoting a climate of respect that cultivates and sustains transformative practices by forging spaces of possibility where students feel safe, valued, welcomed, and respected in their quest for individual success through the aforementioned programs of study.

Responsibilities

* Performs administrative tasks to support graduate students in the Robotics and SIME programs of study. Activities include, but not limited to, recordkeeping, program of study coordination, scheduling, course-planning, graduation tracking.

* Coordinates with undergraduate advisors in Mechanical Engineering and other affiliated departments to support undergraduate students who may wish to obtain a minor in Robotics or a certificate in Robotics or SIME, or who may wish to do a hybrid B.S./M.S. program (i.e. B.S. in constituent department + M.S. in Robotics or SIME)

* Coordinates with graduate advisors in Mechanical Engineering and other affiliated departments to support students who may wish to obtain a graduate certificate in Robotics or SIME.

* Actively participates in campus-based professional development communities, including but not limited to GAPA or other relevant campus-based organizations that directly impact their position. Duties include subcommittee participation.

* Collects and disseminates information to students, faculty and departments about changes in degree requirements or University policies and adjusts advising strategies as appropriate. This includes assisting with maintenance of websites and email lists for the Robotics and SIME programs.

* May participate in search committees for new hires related to the Robotics and SIME programs, including both staff and faculty roles.

* Participates in programming communities for students within their area. Including, but not limited to activities such as overseeing a mentoring program, student organization, etc.

* Advises on graduate committee development. May assign course-work for specific program of study.

* Provides curriculum feedback at the program level. May submit program curriculum changes to university-wide curriculum tracking. Coordinates scheduling of ROBOT and SIME courses, which may be cross-listed with courses in Mechanical Engineering and other affiliated departments.

* Power user for University-wide application review platforms. Coordinate and organize admission portfolios for graduate committees.

* Participates in recruitment activities for potential graduate student candidates. Processes graduate school applications and coordinates with graduate committees with any interview processes.
