Automation & Mechatronics Engineer, Systems Engineer, Process Engineer, Electrical Engineering
We are looking for a Senior Process Controls Engineer who thrives in complex industrial environments and enjoys taking ownership of automation, commissioning, and process control systems from design through startup. This role focuses on large-scale heavy industrial facilities, requiring a strong combination of technical expertise, field leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
This is a hands-on role suited for someone with deep experience in industrial automation, process controls, and commissioning, particularly within mining, mineral processing, oil & gas, or other demanding process industries.
You'll be responsible for leading control system architecture, PLC/DCS programming, field integration, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities while ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performing system delivery.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in process controls engineering, industrial automation, commissioning, or related disciplines
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Automation Engineering, or a related field
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC and DCS programming and troubleshooting
- Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial automation architectures
- Proven background supporting commissioning, startup, loop checks, functional testing, and plant handover activities
- Ability to interpret process and instrumentation documentation, control narratives, and industrial control system designs
- Strong understanding of process instrumentation, including flow, pressure, level, temperature, pH, density, and analytical systems
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, construction, commissioning, and IT
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively for project execution and support
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Join a growing industrial automation and controls organization with significant expansion plans
- Work on technically challenging projects where safety, reliability, and operational performance are critical
- Gain exposure to large-scale industrial facilities across domestic and international locations
- Enjoy hands-on ownership of automation, commissioning, startup, and system optimization activities
- Collaborate with experienced engineering professionals in a highly specialized technical environment
- Take on visible leadership responsibilities with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and influence engineering standards
- Work on a diverse portfolio of projects rather than supporting a single facility or operation
- Benefit from strong career growth potential within a technically focused organization
Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Relocation Assistance Available)
Travel: Up to 80% domestic and international travel, supporting project commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities.
