In this role, you will contribute to the design and delivery of impactful transportation projects including interchanges, highways, and urban corridors across the region. You will play a key role in developing 3D design models, preparing engineering calculations, and supporting project execution from concept through construction.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, take ownership of design elements, and further develop your technical expertise while mentoring junior staff.
Key responsibilities include performing transportation engineering design for roadways, interchanges, and urban corridors using industry-standard tools and methodologies; developing and managing 3D models using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, and Open Roads / InRoads platforms; executing engineering calculations, analyses, and design tasks for moderately complex assignments; gathering, reviewing, and interpreting engineering data to support design decisions and project development; preparing design plans, specifications, reports, and supporting technical documentation;
identifying and resolving discrepancies while ensuring adherence to internal quality control processes; proposing solutions to design challenges by adapting standard engineering techniques and prior experience; collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and efficient project delivery; providing mentorship and guidance to entry-level engineers and support staff; and managing assigned tasks to meet project budgets, schedules, and quality expectations with minimal supervision.
Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline and 4+ years of relevant transportation engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred qualifications include an 8+ years of experience in transportation design, specifically with highways, interchanges, or urban roadway projects; a professional engineer (PE) license in the state of Utah or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire;
experience working with the Utah Department of Transportation or similar state or local agencies; and proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, and Open Roads / InRoads.
