Senior Mining Engineer II
AECOM is seeking an experienced and highly motivated surface Senior Mining Engineer II to provide technical leadership on complex mining projects across North America. The successful candidate will support mining projects from early-stage studies through detailed engineering and construction support while serving as a senior technical resource for multidisciplinary project teams.
This individual will work closely with project managers and engineering discipline leads to develop practical, innovative engineering solutions for mining clients. The role requires strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
Key responsibilities include partnering with clients to identify and implement forward-thinking mining solutions, providing technical expertise in open pit design and phase planning, evaluating and defining haulage systems, developing and optimizing mine schedules and production plans, supporting the development of capital and operating cost estimates, coordinating closely with various engineering teams, preparing and reviewing technical reports, participating in interdisciplinary design reviews, supporting construction engineering activities, traveling 20% of time domestically and internationally, and ensuring engineering work complies with client requirements, industry standards, and AECOM quality procedures.
Minimum qualifications include a BS/BA in Mining Engineering or related engineering field and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of progressive mining engineering experience, prior experience in using Minesight, Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan, or similar software, prior experience in using Whittle software, and prior experience involving prefeasibility and feasibility studies.
