Our Space and Defense Group is the operating group with the longest heritage at Moog and serves ever-evolving markets with ongoing innovation that allows for constantly developing technology and excellent career opportunities. Our Defense team in Salt Lake is eagerly looking for a skilled Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role serves as the technical lead for investigating and preventing production hardware failures on missile and defense-related programs.
The engineer is responsible for conducting failure investigations, analyzing test data and hardware performance, performing fault tree and root cause analyses, and determining the underlying causes of production issues. They work closely with engineering, manufacturing, test, and quality teams to develop corrective actions, improve processes, and prevent future failures.
Additionally, the role requires strong cross-functional collaboration and customer communication, providing clear updates on investigation findings, hardware impacts, and recommended paths forward to ensure product quality, reliability, and on-time delivery.
This is an on-site, collaborative working environment that offers a 9/80 schedule to include every other Friday off! (Schedule is First Shift Monday – Thursday, every other Friday Off).

* ** Electro-Mechanical Engineer, you will add incredible value to the team by holding responsibility for:
*** Lead failure investigations on production hardware issues by analyzing test telemetry, hardware performance data, and physical components.
* Conduct physics-based fault tree analyses and root cause investigations to identify and resolve manufacturing and product failures.
* Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test teams to troubleshoot issues and develop corrective actions.
* Perform hands-on inspection and evaluation of electromechanical assemblies and component interactions to determine failure mechanisms.
* Drive systemic improvements and error-prevention initiatives to reduce recurring production issues and improve product quality.
* Document investigation findings, technical conclusions, and recommended actions, ensuring clear communication of results to stakeholders.
* Present investigation status, hardware impacts, and recovery plans to internal leadership and external customers to support quality and delivery commitments.
** To be considered for this Electro-Mechanical Engineer role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
*** Bachelor’s degree in Engineering:
Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Failure Analysis / Root Cause Investigation Experience.
* Technical understanding of electromechanical systems.
* Cross-Functional Communication & Collaboration.
* Data-Driven Problem Solving.
It would be great if you also had:
* Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Experience
* 2+ years of experience in the Engineering field – (Failure and Investigating would be a plus)
* Aerospace, Missile, Defense, or High-Reliability Product Experience
* Production or Manufacturing Engineering Background
* Customer-Facing Engineering Experience
* Reliability Engineering / Failure Prevention Methods
