Sr. Bridge CAD Technician

As part of a nationwide firm, HNTB’s Salt Lake City office has been delivering solutions for some of the largest and most innovative infrastructure projects in Utah, while also contributing to successful projects all across the country.

The Senior Bridge CAD Technician is responsible for producing high‑quality structural drawings for infrastructure projects. This role works closely with structural engineers and project managers to develop construction documents, ensure drafting accuracy, maintain CAD standards, and mentor junior CAD staff. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, attention to detail, and proactive collaboration skills.

What You'll Do:

Responsible for verifying the accuracy of drawings, compatibility of work across disciplines and for checking detail and quantity calculations. Calculates design data, prepares layouts, detailed specifications, estimates, reports, etc.

Assists in preparing engineering studies and evaluations involved in the development of projects from initial concept to the design stage, with the assistance from the project engineer/architect.

Attends project and pre-construction meetings and provides input to ensure proper policies, procedures, and specifications are followed.

Responsible for resolving technical design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work and data.

Performs general administrative assistance by maintaining complex project plans. May develop documentation, prepare project management report and monitors accomplishments as related to targeted goals.

Makes recommendations regarding process improvement for project delivery at the office level.

Calculates quantities and performs engineering related computations.

Recruits, hires, develops and retains staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. Coordinates schedules and approves timecards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related and 8 years of relevant experience, orIn lieu education, 10 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the structural designers and project teams

Proficient in Bentley Bridge Software including Micro Station, Open Bridge Designer, Project Wise and Bluebeam Proficiency in AutoCADProficient in the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific Engineering sub-type

What We Prefer Lead the bridge layout, detailing, and plan production using Micro Station and/or Open Bridge Designer Familiarity with Utah DOT standards, levels, cells, workspace configuration, and seed files

Ability to work with InRoads geometry, surfaces, and alignments for coordination with bridge and structural plans
