Job Description & How to Apply Below
Our client is expanding its engineering team with a Mechanical Design Engineer who will play a key role in designing advanced unmanned aircraft systems for high-performance commercial and government programs. This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative engineering team where your ideas will directly influence cutting edge product development, from early concepts through full scale production. If you enjoy solving challenging mechanical design problems, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, and seeing your designs become real world products, this role offers an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
WhatYou Will Do
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and integrated systems for sophisticated electromechanical products.
- Develop innovative solutions that improve performance, manufacturability, reliability, and product quality.
- Perform structural analysis using FEA and evaluate mechanical performance through vibration and modal analysis.
- Partner closely with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Contribute throughout the entire product lifecycle, from early design and prototyping through validation, manufacturing launch, and ongoing product enhancements.
- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation using Solid Works and PDM or PLM tools.
- Participate in design reviews and engineering validation activities to ensure designs meet technical, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.
- Analyze engineering issues, identify underlying causes, and develop effective long-term solutions to improve product performance.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners and suppliers to support component development, qualification, and production readiness.
- Recommend design improvements that reduce cost, improve manufacturability, and enhance long term product performance.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Five to eight years of experience designing mechanical systems or components for complex engineered products.
- Hands-on experience with structural simulation, vibration characterization, and dynamic performance evaluation of mechanical systems.
- Proven ability to guide products through the complete development cycle, from early design concepts to full-scale manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience using Solid Works for mechanical design along with product data or lifecycle management software.
- Working knowledge of common engineering materials and joining methods, including metals, polymers, fastening systems, bonding solutions, and protective finishes.
- Familiarity with thermal management principles within electromechanical systems.
- Experience designing injection molded plastic components for production environments.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience working with aerospace, defense, robotics, autonomous systems, or advanced electromechanical products.
- Exposure to optical systems integration or precision mechanical assemblies.
- Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners during product development.
