Senior Strategic Mining Engineer
AECOM is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Strategic Mining Engineer to provide technical leadership on complex mining projects across North America. The successful candidate will support mining projects from early-stage studies through detailed engineering and construction support while serving as a senior technical resource for multidisciplinary project teams.
This individual will work closely with project managers and engineering discipline leads to develop practical, innovative engineering solutions for mining clients. The role requires strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to lead technical execution on large, complex mining projects.
Key responsibilities include serving as the senior mining engineering technical lead on multidisciplinary mining projects, leading technical evaluations and engineering studies for surface mining operations, providing technical direction during concept studies, prefeasibility studies, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering, and ensuring engineering work complies with client requirements, industry standards, and AECOM quality procedures.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in Mining Engineering or related field, 12+ years of progressive mining engineering experience, Qualified Person (QP) / Competent Person (CP) credentials OR Professional Engineer (PE) license, super-user expertise in using Minesight (MPSO), Deswik (Spatial-LHS-IS), Datamine (NPVS/Minemax), Vulcan or similar software, expertise in using Whittle software, demonstrated experience leading technical execution of multidisciplinary mining projects, and experience supporting projects from concept through detailed engineering.
