Industrial Engineer

Description Our client is seeking an Industrial Engineer to support Package Recovery Operations focused on improving the handling of fraud, overgoods, and undeliverable packages within warehouse environments. This role will work directly with operations leadership to analyze current state processes, identify operational constraints, optimize material flow, and improve throughput within live distribution facilities.

Key Areas of Focus:

Material flow optimization and warehouse operations improvement.

Time studies, throughput analysis, and capacity planning.

Bottleneck identification and constraint removal.

Facility layout and workstation optimization.

SOP creation and process standardization.

Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives.

Daily Responsibilities:

Observe and assess warehouse operations and package workflows.

Conduct time studies and analyze process performance data.

Identify bottlenecks and develop recommendations to improve throughput and efficiency.

Partner with operations teams to implement workflow, layout, and process improvements.

Create SOPs, process maps, and operational documentation.

Support continuous improvement efforts through Lean and data-driven problem solving.

Ideal Background:

Should have experience improving material flow, throughput, and operational performance within warehouse, distribution center, fulfillment, assembly plant, or manufacturing environments. Strong experience with process engineering, constraint analysis, and continuous improvement is critical for success.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Engineering, or related field.

Experience in warehouse, distribution center, fulfillment, assembly plant, or high volume manufacturing environments preferred.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certification preferred.

Experience with AutoCAD, facility layout design, warehouse simulation/modeling tools, and SOP development.

Experience with material handling equipment, conveyor systems, sortation operations, or pick-and-place systems is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements in fast paced operational environments.

Strong communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.

Success in this role requires curiosity, structured problem solving, adaptability, and the ability to quickly learn new processes and translate findings into measurable operational improvements.

Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Salt Lake City, UT.Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
