The Poulton Associates/Wright Flood team is looking to hire an experienced Sr. Accountant for our Salt Lake City office. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting while also supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities. This position is responsible for month end close, journal entries, reconciliations, as well as, monitoring budget variances, and assisting leadership with financial insights to support decision making.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise combined with hands-on experience in transactional reporting, financial planning, variance analysis, and management reporting.

Accountabilities/

Job Duties:
  • Prepare and post assigned monthly journal entries and ensure accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies timely.
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Support audit requests by preparing documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain detailed schedules for key accounts, including revenue, expenses, accruals, and deferred items.
  • Support regulatory surplus lines tax reporting and filings.
  • Maintaining support for policies, procedures, and accounting memos.
  • Monitoring restricted cash and supporting cash flow forecasting.
  • Reviewing cash activity trends and unusual transactions.
  • Prepare assigned bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Monitor budget‑to‑actual results and prepare variance analyses with clear explanations.
  • Develop/maintain models to be used for consolidated reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as requested by management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience; FP&A or budgeting experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Prior experience supporting month‑end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Unless otherwise indicated, this position is considered a Hybrid position. You will be required to come into the office on a hybrid schedule as well as when business needs dictate.

Physical Requirements On a Regular Basis:
  • Manual dexterity, arm and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard, mouse and telephone 7-8 hours per day.
  • Speech and hearing sufficient for in-person and telephone communication 7-8 hours per day.
  • Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor.
  • Ability to sit at a desk 7-8 hours per day.
