Job DescriptionGoldman Sachs is a leading global investment bank, securities and investment management firm. This Analyst role is part of the External Investing Group (XIG) Data Office, responsible for governing and improving the data environment that supports private market investment activities.
Business OverviewThe XIG Group delivers investment and advisory solutions across hedge funds, private equity, real estate, public equity and fixed‑income strategies. With more than 300 professionals worldwide, XIG manages diversified portfolios, provides portfolio construction, risk management and liquidity solutions, and supports sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, endowments and family offices.
Responsibilities Data Operations & Reporting Support- Support daily monitoring of platform‑specific KPIs to identify data quality issues and trends
- Prepare dashboards, reports and data summaries for internal stakeholders
- Document data flows, definitions and ownership across key datasets
- Perform data validation and reconciliation checks to support data accuracy and completeness
- Assist with implementing data quality metrics (integrity, completeness, accuracy, timeliness)
- Support remediation of data exceptions by working with functional teams and following governance processes
- Document and control data governance standards to ensure consistent practices
- Apply best practices that reduce manual data entry and operational risk
- Track actions, timelines and dependencies to support the delivery of data initiatives
- Assist senior team members with data rationalization efforts, including mapping inputs, outputs and data owners
- Contribute to testing and validation of enhancements to data platforms and reporting tools
- Explore automation and AI‑enabled data solutions
- Collaborate with investment professionals, operations, legal, compliance and technology partners to understand data needs
- Prepare materials for regular data status and progress updates
- Build stakeholder management skills through exposure to cross‑functional teams worldwide
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, operations, technology or a related role within financial services
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proficiency in Excel; exposure to SQL, Python or BI tools is a plus
- Interest in private markets, alternative investments or asset management
- Familiarity with data governance concepts or data quality frameworks
- Exposure to data warehousing, reporting platforms or workflow tools
- Curiosity about automation, AI or data‑driven process improvement
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
- Proactive mindset with an interest in building long‑term data and investment management expertise
