Sacred Circle seeks a Chief Financial Officer to lead all aspects of financial strategy, stewardship, and compliance in support of programs serving Indigenous and underserved communities. The CFO oversees budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, audit, and grant and restricted fund management, ensuring accurate, timely reporting to leadership, board, and funders. This role builds strong financial systems and controls, guides long-term sustainability planning, and partners with program leaders to align resources with mission priorities.

The CFO will mentor a small finance team and model Sacred Circle's values of collaboration, respect, and social responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead overall financial strategy, planning, and stewardship aligned with Sacred Circle's mission and programs.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-term financial sustainability planning.
  • Manage nonprofit fund accounting, including grants, contracts, and restricted funds, ensuring proper tracking and reporting.
  • Direct preparation of timely financial statements, analyses, and dashboards for leadership, board, and funders.
  • Coordinate annual audit, tax filings, and ensure adherence to GAAP and nonprofit regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices.
  • Partner with program leaders to align resources with strategic priorities and evaluate program financial performance.
  • Present financial results and recommendations to the board and finance committees.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across the organization to support mission-driven decision-making and a culture of responsibility and transparency.
