* We are looking for a Housing and Rehabilitation Loan Specialist to support our Housing Stability team.
** About the Position:*
* In this position, you'll play an important role in helping individuals and families access housing assistance through the Division's housing rehabilitation and homebuyer loan and grant programs. You'll work directly with applicants to understand their financial circumstances, determine eligibility, and help develop appropriate financing packages.
You'll interview applicants, collect and verify income and expense information, prepare loan and grant applications for review by the Housing Program Funds Loan Committee, and respond to applicant questions by phone and email. You'll also create and maintain project files, prepare reports, and assist with closing approved loans and grants.
This position works closely with the Loan Administrator, Financial Analyst, and Rehabilitation Team and provides an opportunity to apply your financial knowledge to a variety of housing programs. You'll help interpret and apply division financial policies, government legislation, accounting principles, and applicable customer financial regulations to support sound and consistent program decisions.
** What You'll Bring:*
* The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in finance, loan processing, and loan underwriting, including a basic understanding of FNMA/FHLMC lending and documentation requirements. You should be comfortable working with Federal, State, and local rules and regulations and applying financial information to make informed decisions.
Strong analytical and communication skills are important in this role. You'll need the ability to review and summarize complex financial information and develop clear recommendations related to policies, procedures, internal controls, and program actions.
** Position Salary Range:*
* E26 - $60,941/yr. to $83,111/yr.

* Key Responsibilities:

* + Interviews and consults with property owners and residents applying for the direct delivery loan and/or grant programs. Determines types of loan eligibility based upon needs, income, and expenses. Meets with property owners to review document requirements and to obtain needed documents. Communicates clearly about the program, process, and loan products.
+ Responsible for the underwriting of loan applications to assess different loan applicants' eligibility for the program. This includes, but is not limited to, an assessment of applicants' income, employment status, experience, business plan, credit standing, collateral, previous financial statements, and financial projections. Must work closely with applicants to discern valuable information needed for underwriting, including documentation and extenuating circumstances. Must have frequent communication with applicants during the eligibility and underwriting process.
+ Conducts background research to verify accuracy of information given by applicant. Orders credit reports, title reports, employment verification, and other information necessary to properly document claims and evaluate applications. Ensures that underwriting procedures are followed according to program policy and in accordance with best financial practices.
+ Demonstrates a sound understanding of, and ability to follow, established procedures, departmental guidelines, and precedents in performing various financial functions.
