Job DescriptionThis is an intermediate-level role that requires a thorough knowledge of pertinent policies and procedures to assist with the management of financial programs and a high volume of financial functions. This is an exciting opportunity for finance professionals to apply their expertise in a meaningful way while assisting the Division of Water Rights employees. This position may be filled as a Financial Analyst II or I depending on experience and qualification.
Key Responsibilities Day-to-day Responsibilities Of This Position- Manage vendor setup, maintain vendor accounts, and process payments in the state accounting system.
- Assist with employee training and compliance initiatives, including travel and P-card management.
- Support program managers with procurement and purchasing needs.
- Maintain financial data in a system to assist with preparation of annual reports.
- Be a payroll coordinator for the Division.
- Prepare documents and make payments in Vantage Financial.
- Ensure financial compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and department rules, policies, standards and practices.
- Report findings and make recommendations.
- Research and review financial records, transactions, and documentation.
- Process Cash Receipts.
- Handle payment history changes.
- Reviews fiscal transactions to ensure integrity, accuracy and control of data.
- Read, interpret, maintain and analyze income statements.
- Input payroll data into Vantage Payroll act as Payroll Coordinator for Division.
- Two years of accounting or related study, accounting and/or finance experience.
- Maintain and prepare financial reports and documentation.
- Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.
- Ability to make a decision and solve problems by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives and propose quality solutions.
- Can effectively communicate in writing and verbally
- Work with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
- Intermediate skills and experience using Microsoft Excel
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
- The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
- Preference may be given to current State employees.
- Preference may be given to candidates with an education in finance, accounting, or a related field or at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a work-related field.
- Preference may be given to those with excellent analytical skills and advanced Excel knowledge and experience. 3 years of experience working in accounting or finance or at least 2 years of higher education in accounting or finance. Use automated accounting systems and/or financial computer systems
