This position provides messenger service to the hospital by transporting non-ambulatory patients, pharmaceuticals, medical records, lab specimens and blood bank deliveries. The incumbent also responds to various routine and emergency calls. This position may be required to transport medications within their scope of practice and according to State Law.

Responsibilities- Transfers patients from one hospital area to another.
- Handles devices such as intravenous bottles, oxygen masks, oxygen tanks, urine drainage bags and blood bags, all of which could be attached to the patient during transportation.
- Transports expired patients to the morgue on a stretcher.
- Picks up and delivers medical records, pharmaceuticals, laboratory specimens, blood, other medical items, and mail.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
- Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
- Entry level position.
- Depending on the area of assignment, a current, valid Utah driver's license may be required.
- Depending on the area of assignment, a Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through the American Heart Association may be required.

- This position involves intermediate work that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects while providing assistance to patients. The incumbent may face exposure to potentially dangerous contaminated bodily fluids, blood and blood products, chemotherapy solutions and other contaminants as part of the daily hazards of the job.
