Department: ARUP Family Health Clinic - 141
Primary PurposeCoordinates patient care for the ARUP Family Health Clinic by determining the urgency and level of expertise needed to address patient concerns. Delivers professional nursing care to patients by assessing patient status and implementing clinical nursing interventions when possible. Works with and assists health care providers to educate patients and answers medical questions to improve patient outcomes while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Functions
- Work with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and patients to assess the urgency of patient problems and assist patients by acquiring the appropriate appointment as needed.
- Resolve questions concerning medications, health education, and medical advice within skill level and scope of practice.
- Provide appropriate advice within skill level and documented departmental policies, and seek provider advice when necessary.
- Record and maintain complete and accurate records of patient and physician communications regarding medical care according to standard medical record documentation requirements.
- Retrieve messages from phone mail in a timely manner and respond to patient needs according to medical priority.
- Serve as a resource to clinic staff regarding medical information, patient assessment, and management of illness.
- Facilitate and actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes to develop improved performance.
- Facilitate and assist in development of Medical Assistant training and competency curriculum.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Stooping:
Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. - Reaching:

Occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery. - Communication:
Frequently communicate with others. - PPE:
Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies. - Compliance:
Conduct work in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures. - Sedentary Work:
Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. - Fine Motor Control:
Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers. - Vision:
Close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.
