Job Summary & DeliverablesThe Autism Specialist provides developmental and educational services to children and adolescents with autism in a clinical setting or the home environment.
Essential Functions- Designs individualized programs for children and adolescents with autism to increase and develop social, communication, and behavioral skills.
- Provides services within the assigned treatment setting – clinical setting or the client’s home. Homebased treatment assignments require access to reliable transportation.
- Designs specialized programs and teaching procedures for individual or small groups of clients to develop academic knowledge and ability through the application of behavioral techniques and procedures.
- Charts the progress of assigned clients through weekly progress notes to ensure the ongoing evaluation of each client’s strengths and opportunities.
- Monitors progress notes and related data to ensure the proper implementation of individualized behavior change programs.
- Reviews current research on autism, understands behavioral modification theories and applies appropriate techniques.
- Completes various administrative tasks and meets deadlines for submission to ensure timely and accurate data collection for electronic health record systems.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Three months of experience as an Autism Assistant or six months of direct client care experience.
- CPR certification, Valley de‑escalation certification.
- Driving positions require a minimum age of 21 and a current driver’s license.
- Two years of experience working with individuals with autism.
