License: ARRT registration
Certifications:
State Rad Tech License, Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
Must-Have:
Vascular/Interventional radiography certification or one year of Angio/Interventional experience
Description:
Ensures proper patient identification and order verification.
Prepares the patient for the exam using appropriate body mechanics.
Identifies proper exams based on patient need and utilizes correct exam techniques.
Produces quality images through the appropriate operation of equipment and instrumentation.
Follows proper patient identification protocols.
Completes all required documentation thoroughly and accurately, including time stamps and image storage.
Maintains work area and stocks needed supplies.
Transports patients as needed.
Develops specific knowledge regarding invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, as well as proper use and deployment techniques.
At the end of the procedure, may apply closure device, suture the sheath in place, or remove the sheath and apply pressure to obtain hemostasis.
Understands and applies principles of x-ray generation and safety.
Understands and demonstrates the correct operation of imaging equipment.
Provides patient education as needed and assures patient comfort.
Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to lab policies and procedures.
Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require verbal communication and listening skills, particularly in emergency situations.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers is necessary to operate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
Expected to lift and utilize a full range of movement to transfer patients.
May include bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights.
Need to walk and assist with transporting and ambulating patients, including pushing and pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
May be required to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.
A personal radiation monitoring badge is required for this assignment.
Providers are encouraged to use an existing badge from a previous employer or assignment when available.
