Job SummaryThe Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Physician Assistant to provide primary GI care and treatment for pediatric patients with general gastrointestinal disorders. Clinical activities are primarily at Primary Children’s Hospital Outpatient Services Center in Salt Lake City, UT, and may include sites at Miller Campus (Lehi) or Layton Hospital (Layton).
Clinics may include a mix of in‑person and virtual visits. The provider will have between 6 and 7 half‑day clinics per week and will participate in first call on the Pediatric GI inpatient service for approximately 6–12 weeks per year (weekdays, 8 am–5 pm).

Responsibilities- Provide primary GI care and treatment for pediatric patients with general gastrointestinal disorders.
- Support clinics at Primary Children’s Hospital Outpatient Services Center and related campuses; manage both face‑to‑face and virtual visits.
- Maintain 6–7 half‑day clinics per week and take first call on the pediatric GI inpatient service for ~6–12 weeks per year.
- Contribute to team care, including reviewing referrals and participating in Fast Track pathways to expedite care as appropriate.
- Perform clinical duties within scope of validated competence and in accordance with approved protocols
- Office environment with nearly continuous exposure to general clinical activities.
- May involve exposure to infectious diseases and materials associated with clinical care and interventions.
- Physical requirements:
nearly continuous ability to hear, listen, and talk; often required to perform repetitive hand motions, walk, stand, and sit.
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Utah.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by department or privileging criteria.
- Previous experience in pediatrics, pediatric gastroenterology and/or nutrition; outpatient pediatric clinic or family practice experience preferred.
This position is patient‑sensitive; immunization according to CDC standards and hospital policy is required, with limited exemptions for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs.
