A Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients in a healthcare facility. They are responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and ensuring smooth front-office operations while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
- Verify patient information, insurance details, and medical records.
- Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Coordinate communication between patients, physicians, and medical staff.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with healthcare privacy regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception and waiting area.
- Friendly and patient-focused attitude.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Pulling daily reports and faxing information to facilities.
- Emailing, faxing and managing incoming phone calls.
- Professional verbal and written communication with internal staff, field staff, healthcare providers and patients.
- Willing to learn and open to feedback.
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred).
- Previous experience in a medical office or customer service role preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Basic computer and administrative skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
- May involve sitting for long periods and frequent interaction with patients.
- Standard office hours with possible evening or weekend shifts depending on facility.
