Data Analyst, Data Engineer
We are on a mission to empower Insurance Brokers and Employers with the tools required to ensure that every employee understands their benefits. We believe that the future of benefits education lives at the intersection of efficiency and engagement. To this end, we are building a "whole-book" platform that automates Broker workflows for creating a superior education experience for their employer clients.
Brokers that use Brite spend an average of 84% less time per Open Enrollment benefit guide and their clients' employees are twice as confident in their understanding of their benefits compared to incumbent resources (paper guides, PDFs, Power points).
About the roleWe are looking for our first Data hire, ideally an Engineer by profession, to own the stack end-to-end and bring confidence to the stories we tell using quantitative data. This a high impact role that will enable internal stakeholders to make faster and more informed decisions using the datasets you own. You will be a member of the Product org and report to the VP of Product, with two outcomes that define your mission:
- Data Integrity - Do we trust the number we’re looking at?
- Accessibility - Can teams generally consume data without pinging someone?
As you work to deliver on these outcomes, you will have the opportunity to potentially scale the Data org as you transform a soft spot for Brite into a core operating competency.
Responsibilities- Build and own the analytics foundation in Big Query (clean models, clear grains, sane performance/cost).
- Define and ship a semantic/metrics layer (Cube/Buster/similar) so key metrics are defined once and used everywhere.
- Make Tier‑1 metrics reliable and auditable, including user efficiency (benefits import time, time spent editing a guide, etc.), employee engagement (guide views, guide flow-through, etc) and broker “book of business” aggregations.
- Own instrumentation with Product/Engineering (event taxonomy, tracking specs, data contracts).
- Own ingestion tooling and the operating model for onboarding new sources.
- Set up a lightweight but explicit process for ad-hoc analytics projects for both internal teams and external stakeholders (brokers, enterprise brokers, carrier partners).
- Own SOC 2 requirements relevant to your area of the business.
- Partner with Product team to iterate on the vision and roadmap for customer-facing analytics products.
- 5+ years in data engineering / data platform work with production ownership.
- Strong SQL + deep Big Query experience (modeling, performance, cost control).
- Specifically familiar with Go, so you can read and understand backend services, collaborate with engineers on instrumentation, and contribute PRs when necessary to deliver on your outcomes.
- Experience owning data quality: monitoring, alerting, testing, reconciliation, and clear expectations.
- Comfortable owning instrumentation with Product/Engineering.
- Strong written communication and systems thinking (we write everything in Notion and track our work Linear).
- Flexible PTO & company holidays.
- Medical Contributions at 80% for all tiers
- Adventure Fund: $1,000 annually
- Internet: $900 annually
- Wellness: $900 annually
- Babysitting/Pet sitting: $1,200 annually
- Company HSA contributions and 401k match
- Weekly lunches & fully stocked break room
- Onsite gym and showers
- Office space at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon
