Electronics Technician, Technical Support, Systems Engineer
Wheeler Machinery Co. is seeking a Machine Technology Support Specialist to provide technical support for CAT machine technology systems. This role supports our team on calibrating, installing, diagnosing, updating, and repairing systems such as CAT Grade, CAT Payload, CAT Detect, and CAT Assist. The ideal candidate will have strong problem‑solving abilities, a desire to learn emerging technologies, and the ability to build strong relationships with customers while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

- Maintain a zero‑accident, safety‑first mindset and follow all Wheeler safety programs.
- Provide technical guidance to field and shop technicians on updates, calibrations, and installations of CAT Machine Technology hardware and software systems.
- Troubleshoot machine technology–related issues.
- Assist customers with setup, configuration, and on‑site training for CAT technology systems.
- Manage customer and machine integration with Vision Link Productivity, including obtaining and uploading calibration and site design files.
- Install and enable licenses, SEA (Software‑Enabled Attachment) activations, and Product Link subscriptions related to CAT Machine Technologies in Dealer Services Portal.
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and service teams to ensure safe working conditions at all job sites.
- Occasionally travel to customer locations throughout Wheeler Machinery’s dealer territory.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic system experience (shop or field).
- Familiarity with construction equipment operations.
- Strong computer skills and willingness to learn and adapt to evolving machine technologies.
- Ability to read and follow electrical and system schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).
- College degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Working knowledge of Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) and SIS.
- Experience with Vision Link, CAT software applications, or other OEM telematics platforms.
- Background in CAT Construction Technology, telematics, or Product Link diagnostics and repair.
- Experience working within a Caterpillar or other OEM equipment dealership.
- Experience with Trimble hardware or software.
