What will the Regional Field Engineer do?

You will work in a fast-paced environment where you will take a hands-on approach to helping a federal agency with its nationwide Physical Security Program Office (Program). You will work with a team of engineering professionals to architect security solutions that ensure that the Program complies with complex federal and agency mandates. You will have the opportunity to work on intricate systems integrations and help the client recover from critical systems failures.

What does a typical day look like for the Regional Field Engineer?

The person in this position will do the following:

  • Provide technical direction for problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems in the subject matter area.
  • Review technical responses from systems integrators and provide feedback to the government.
  • Assist the government with systems inspection and testing throughout the monitoring and controlling and closing phases of installation projects.
  • Assess the alignment of system design packages and installed systems to client security standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to clients and internal engineering staff.
  • Make recommendations and advise on system-wide improvements, optimization, testing, and deployment or maintenance efforts based on project observations and emerging industry trends.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Program Manager and the Program Manager to manage expectations and complete necessary work orders to maintain compliance with security standards.
  • Maintain close connections with client points of contact to stay abreast of ongoing activities and schedule upcoming jobs.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to colleagues, staff, and government representatives.
  • Offer industry best practices and lessons learned from federal engagement past performance.
  • Maintain knowledge of current-generation technology and assist the client with the maintenance and replacement of end-of-life systems.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the Regional Field Engineer we're looking for if you have:

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a government clearance (or you have recently held a government clearance).
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in a relevant discipline or associated operational experience.
  • Experience successfully interpreting and applying FIPS 201-2, HSPD-12, OMB memorandums, NIST publications (800-116-1, 800-53, 800-73-4), and CIO Council papers.
  • The ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to define standards and controls per facility type, draft Scopes of Work for solicitations and RFIs, review and QA Technical Drawing Packages, ensure standardization of equipment and configuration management, and define requirements for facility assessments and site inspections.
  • The ability to do the following during client site visits: (1) move throughout the building to access equipment, (2) position yourself to review installed equipment, (3) move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and (4) inspect sites to detect security concerns.

We're extra impressed by folks who have:

  • An active government clearance.
  • Prior Team Lead experience with PACS/PIV, VMS, IDS, and Networking
  • Experience with PKI, federal smart card/PIV technology, and FICAM-compliant PACS installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Familiarity with legacy (end-of-life) PACS and VMS hardware/software
  • Hirsch Velocity and IQSight BVMS experience or certification a plus
  • Relevant certifications:
    CompTIA Security+, PSP, CPP, PMP, CSEIP, or CISSP
