Compensation: $60–$75/hr DOE
Overview
We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer to join a Fortune 500 company responsible for supporting critical pipeline operations and enterprise business systems. This role is ideal for someone with advanced SQL Server development skills who also has an interest or background in database administration.
You will design, optimize, and maintain complex SQL solutions supporting pipeline operations, regulatory reporting, scheduling, accounting, asset management, and enterprise applications. This position will expand into SQL Server Application DBA responsibilities including data modeling, designing and maintaining tables and indexes, query tuning, refactoring, and maintaining complex stored procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL Server stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
- Write efficient T-SQL queries for large, highly transactional databases.
- Troubleshoot and improve SQL performance using execution plans, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Develop ETL processes and automate data movement between enterprise systems.
- Support business reporting and analytics by building reliable database objects.
- Collaborate with application developers, business analysts, and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable database solutions.
- Participate in database design, schema modifications, and data modeling.
- Coordinate with System DBA's to request database maintenance, backups, restores, security, and disaster recovery planning.
- Monitor database health and recommend improvements for performance and reliability.
- Support production deployments and troubleshoot database-related production issues.
- Ensure data integrity, compliance, and security across critical business systems.
- 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server development experience.
- Expert‑level T‑SQL programming skills.
- Strong experience developing stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, complex joins, CTEs, and windowing functions.
- Experience with SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.
- Strong understanding of indexing strategies and execution plans.
- Experience working with large enterprise databases.
- Knowledge of database normalization and relational database design.
- Experience supporting production environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience with SSIS, SSRS, or Azure Data Factory.
- Experience with Power BI or enterprise reporting platforms.
- Familiarity with C#, .NET, or API integrations.
- Experience with source control (Git or Azure Dev Ops).

- Application DBA experience with System DBA tools (Backup & Recovery, Database Security, Maintenance Plans, SQL Server Agent, High Availability concepts, Performance Monitoring).
- Experience supporting SCADA or operational technology (OT) systems.
- Familiarity with pipeline scheduling, nominations, gas accounting, or asset management systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting and compliance data.
- Passion for solving complex data challenges.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across technical and business teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
- Desire to expand into database administration and enterprise data architecture.
