Senior Manager of Business Intelligence & Data, Hybrid in Salt Lake City, UT
The Senior Manager of Business Intelligence & Data will lead the company's business intelligence, analytics, data governance, and analytical data-platform functions. You will serve as the bridge between business leaders and the data team, ensuring that operational, clinical, financial, revenue-cycle, and other metrics are accurately defined, consistently calculated, and effectively used to manage the business. Critically, the Senior Manager will be expected to understand both the business context behind the company's metrics and the technical systems used to produce them.
This is a Hybrid position with onsite 3 days a week required.
Senior Manager of Business Intelligence & Data Responsibilities:
- Business Intelligence and Analytics Leadership – Lead the company's business intelligence and analytics function, including team priorities, project intake, resource allocation, and delivery standards.
- Partner with executives and functional leaders to identify the metrics and insights required to manage performance.
- Ensure dashboards and reports are actionable, understandable, and incorporated into recurring management processes.
- Maintain responsibility for KPI definitions and data governance.
Technical Oversight – Review and, when necessary, write advanced SQL used for analytical models, reports, reconciliations, and data validation.
- Understand and evaluate data models, table relationships, joins, data grain, transformation logic, and source-system limitations.
- Ensure that data architecture and transformation logic remain maintainable by the internal team.
Healthcare Business Analytics – Develop a strong understanding of outpatient healthcare operations, including scheduling, visits, episodes of care, therapist productivity, utilization, cancellations, referral conversion, payer mix, authorization management, claims, denials, collections, and clinical outcomes.
- Develop analytical capabilities that support clinic-level performance management, labor planning, growth initiatives, payer strategy, and acquisition integration.
- Work with finance to reconcile operational and revenue-cycle analytics to financial results.
Broader IT Functions – Become familiar with the company's broader IT functions, including networks, help desk, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Lead, coach, and develop data-team and other junior IT personnel.
- Develop a strong knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare-data privacy considerations.
- Serve as strategic thought partner to senior management.
Senior Manager of Business Intelligence & Data Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in business intelligence, analytics, data, or related work.
- At least 3 years of experience leading employees and major cross-functional projects.
- Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to write, review, troubleshoot, and optimize complex queries.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, joining, transformation logic, and data-quality testing.
- Working knowledge of networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to nontechnical audiences.
- Experience with Snowflake, Data Warehouse, and Domo is a plus.
- Health care industry experience would be preferred but not required.
- Must be cleared on State and Federal Exclusion Lists, and not on National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) lists with negative notes.
