Systems Administrator II

Install, configure, and maintain computer software systems and associated peripheral equipment. Maintain operating efficiency andstability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems anddata, and respond to outages and other issues. Perform applicationadministration activities such as creating, modifying, and deletingusers, optimizing remote access, and security access for messagingsystems, databases, and web applications. Coordinate with department leadership to plan, design, and schedule the release ofall software, hardware, and operating system updates.

Develop and enhance processes and technical documentation, create back-up procedures, test plans, and reports. Prioritize and respond to requests for service and may provide escalation support tohelp/service desk staff.

University Information Technology(UIT), the central IT service provider for the University of Utah, reports to the U's Chief Information Officer and is responsible for many of the U's sharedIT services including the wired and wireless network;
Campus Information Services (CIS) portal; UMail, telephone, and onlinecollaboration; digital learning technologies; information security;software licensing; and a host of other IT systems and services.

Located in Salt Lake City, the U is the flagship institution of the State of Utah'ssystem of higher education, home to arts and museumvenues and a member of the BIG-12 Conference. Skiing andsnowboarding opportunities are a short distance fromcampus, and opportunities to pursue activities from biking to hiking to fishing abound. We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to support Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace services at the University. This role will provide technical guidance in planning and implementing new solutions while ensuring the stability and reliability of existing platforms. Youwill work closely with IT and business partners to design anddeliver solutions that support institutional needs, with emphasison all Microsoft 365 services, Google Workspace, Box and Linux,with integrations into both physical and digital university environments.

• Manage daily service requests and incident ticket queues.
• Monitor system alerts and troubleshoot issues across Unified Communications and collaboration platforms.
• Collaborate with other engineers on complex tasks andcross-functional projects.
• Contribute to the design, deployment, and support of Unified Communications projects as assigned.
• Ensure email and messaging services are fully functional and optimized.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, run-books, and support processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation(e.g., Power Shell scripting).

Requires a bachelor's(or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.

• Microsoft Exchange and/or Microsoft 365 certifications.
• Hands-on experience administering Google Workspace.
• Cloud application integration experience.
• Scripting skills (e.g., Power Shell, Python, or similar).
• Working understanding of Window Mac and Linux OSes
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
