Parson Companies, a CRH company, is seeking a Telematics Field Technician to support and manage telematics hardware, software, and mobile technology solutions across transportation and construction operations. This position serves as a key resource for drivers, dispatchers, operations personnel, vendors, and IT teams by ensuring the successful implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of telematics systems and related technologies.
The Telematics Field Technician will be responsible for onboarding new users, maintaining telematics equipment inventories, coordinating software updates, monitoring system utilization, and providing field support to ensure uninterrupted operations.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities User Support & Training
- Set up applications, accounts, and mobile devices for new drivers and employees.
- Conduct onboarding and training for drivers, dispatchers, operations personnel, and back-office staff on telematics systems and related software.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for telematics-related questions and support requests.
- Communicate software changes, updates, and maintenance activities to affected users.
- Troubleshoot telematics hardware and software issues.
- Coordinate issue resolution with vendors, CRH/OMG IT teams, and operations personnel.
- Track incidents through resolution and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
- Support deployment and rollout of new telematics technologies and software platforms.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of telematics devices and vehicle-mounted equipment.
- Manage inventory of tablets, GPS devices, cameras, sensors, and related hardware.
- Order replacement equipment and parts as needed.
- Coordinate repairs, replacements, and installations of telematics equipment.
- Monitor non-reporting assets and work with maintenance and operations teams to resolve issues.
- Coordinate software updates and system enhancements.
- Monitor data quality, usage compliance, and reporting accuracy.
- Generate and distribute operational reports, including Hours of Service (HOS) and compliance reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve utilization and efficiency through telematics analytics.
- Provide recommendations for software enhancements and process improvements.
- Act as liaison between operations, vendors, IT teams, and management.
- Provide feedback regarding system functionality, development opportunities, and operational challenges.
- Assist with invoice review and vendor service management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to fleet technology and operational performance
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Systems, Electronics, Transportation Technology, or related field preferred.
- Experience providing technical support, field service, fleet technology, telematics, or transportation systems support.
- Basic knowledge of GPS, fleet management systems, mobile devices, and wireless communications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel to field locations and project sites as needed.
- Experience with transportation, fleet, logistics, construction, or materials operations.
- Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Experience supporting mobile applications, tablets, and vehicle-mounted technology.
- Background in equipment installation, technical training, or systems administration.
- Familiarity with telematics reporting and analytics platforms.
- Customer-focused technical support skills.
- Strong organizational and inventory management capabilities.
- Ability to diagnose hardware and software issues.
- Effective communication and training skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
