Job Profile Summary
The Service Now Administrator supports the day-to-day operation, configuration, and stability of an enterprise Service Now platform. This role partners with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into platform configuration, maintains documentation, supports incident/request troubleshooting, and helps ensure platform changes meet quality standards and delivery timelines.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain a Service Now instance with multiple custom applications and configurations.
- Configure and support out-of-the-box Service Now modules (as applicable).
- Troubleshoot platform issues, identify root cause, and coordinate resolution with internal teams and/or vendors.
- Support inbound email actions, notifications, and workflow-related configurations.
- Manage user access and platform governance practices (as applicable to the environment).
- Maintain platform documentation (runbooks, configuration notes, process guides, release notes).
- Assist with quality assurance activities (test planning, UAT support, change validation).
- Manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment and elevate risks early.
- Participate in continuous improvement of administration processes and platform best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of Service Now administration concepts and common platform capabilities.
- Familiarity with basic JavaScript and platform configuration concepts (e.g., business rules, client scripts, UI policies).
- Familiarity with inbound email functionality and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of data import/export concepts (data sources, scheduled imports/exports).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a basic understanding of performance considerations.
- Strong written communication and documentation habits.
- Ability to work independently and within an Agile/team-based environment.
- Ability to navigate vendor support portals and open/manage support cases when needed.

Qualifications
Minimum
- Service Now Certified System Administrator (CSA)
or
equivalent hands-on experience. - Bachelor’s degree in a related field
or
equivalent practical experience. - 1+ year of experience supporting or administering Service Now in a production environment.
Preferred
- Experience with Agile/Scrum and tools such as Jira.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and modern UI concepts.
- Experience supporting integrations and data movement between Service Now and external systems (conceptual/admin-side exposure).
