German Language & Localization Specialist

We are looking for a German Language & Localization Specialist to join our team at Priority Dispatch. The German Language & Localization Specialist executes the translation and cultural adaptation (localization) of medical, police, firefighter, and/or nurse triage protocols from English to German. This person serves as the primary subject matter expert for German language translations and oversees the inclusion, identification, and development of the German language and culture in both company materials and relations.

• Read the original materials and rewrite them in German, ensuring the meaning is retained and adapted to the German emergency dispatch market.
• Find equivalents for terminology using dictionaries, thesauruses, reference books, and native-speaker proficiency. Research technical, scientific, and legal phraseology.
• Edit and proofread final translated versions and approve all final product versions.
• Use appropriate translation software and tools for presentation and delivery.
• Maintain databases and the knowledge base of all German text and terminology used in the company’s products.
• Assist customer and software support, accreditation processes, and conference organization through translation and interpretation services as needed.
• Consult with the company’s German liaisons to discuss unclear points and arrive at the best solution.
• Participate in the German Cultural Committee discussions and meetings, aid in implementing and maintaining company standards across all products and versions, keep in regular contact with the committee members, motivate them to complete their work on schedule and update them on project status.
• Serve as a liaison for the company’s German-speaking customers and accurately relay cultural issues to the company.
• Support company research, development, and marketing of German initiatives, programs, and studies.

• One or two years of higher-education studies (e.g., Associate’s degree or equivalent) in a foreign language/linguistics or a related discipline or equivalent education and experience.
• Native fluency of the German language.
• Advanced verbal and written skills in both English and German.
• Competences in writing and proofreading text.
• Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects.

• Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize work and deal with changing priorities.
• Proficiency with common office software (Office 365).

• Experience with translation software applications.
• Translation certification(s).
