Part-Time Sign Language Interpreter Job Summary
The Center for Disability & Access (CDA) is recruitingpart-time Sign Language Interpreters. These positions arepart-time, variable-hour positions providing ASL interpretingservices for University classes, lectures, meetings, and other campus events. Services are provided to undergraduate and graduate students, staff and faculty, and community members on campus.
Responsibilities- Provide Sign Language Interpretation (ASL) for University classes,lectures, meetings, and other campus events.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
- Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret and translate verbaland written text.
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in an efficient, productive mannermaintaining composure and sensitivity in accordance with the environment of health care services.
- Associate's degree in a foreign language, or equivalency (one yearof education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
- Depending upon the department of hire, a knowledge of medical terminology may be required.
