Location: Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah (Hybrid)
Salary Range: $65,000 – $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
A professional legal services organization is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join its Trial department in a downtown Salt Lake City office. This hybrid position supports multiple attorneys in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, communicates effectively, provides excellent client service, and can manage multiple priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and serve as a liaison for clients.
- Open new client matters, including conducting conflicts checks and preparing engagement documentation.
- Manage and review attorney calendars to track deadlines, anticipate next steps, and ensure follow-up.
- Draft, format, proofread, redline, and edit correspondence, pleadings, discovery, briefs, and memoranda from dictation or drafts.
- File legal documents electronically with state and federal courts.
- Enter and review attorney time entries for accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
- Assist with billing processes, including reviewing proformas and preparing invoices and client correspondence.
- Maintain and organize client files in both electronic and physical formats.
- Process incoming mail and electronic communications; prepare outgoing mail and packages.
- Process reimbursement requests, check requests, and vendor invoices.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, conference room scheduling, and travel arrangements.
- Maintain continuing legal education (CLE) records for attorneys, including registrations and reporting.
- Delegate appropriate administrative tasks and provide high-level service to attorneys and clients.
- Perform additional administrative or legal support duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience
; prior law firm experience preferred. - Knowledge of local and federal court rules and procedures.
- Experience with state and federal e-filing systems
. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Positive attitude and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Understanding of legal terminology and procedures related to trial practice.
