We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Assistant to support our procurement and supply chain operations in Salt Lake City. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented purchasing professional who has hands-on experience managing purchase orders, coordinating with vendors, supporting inventory activities, and partnering with internal teams.
The Purchasing Assistant will work closely with purchasing managers, operations leaders, inventory teams, and suppliers to ensure materials and services are purchased accurately, efficiently, and delivered on schedule. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.
What You'll Do- Process and manage purchase orders, purchase requisitions, transfers, and related purchasing documentation.
- Coordinate purchasing activities for materials, products, and services while supporting business needs and operational timelines.
- Communicate directly with vendors regarding pricing, availability, order status, delivery schedules, and issue resolution.
- Support managers with purchasing, vendor coordination, reporting, and daily procurement activities.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with inventory accuracy initiatives, and support stock control processes.
- Track open purchase orders, in-transit inventory, backorders, returns, and related logistics activities.
- Review vendor invoices and collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and update ERP systems with receipts, item transactions, and purchasing data.
- Respond to internal requests from operations, inventory, finance, and other departments.
- Support month-end purchasing activities, reporting, documentation, and audit requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support ongoing supply chain initiatives.
- 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or buying experience required.
- Experience processing purchase orders and working directly with suppliers/vendors.
- Experience supporting purchasing managers, buyers, or supply chain teams.
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventory flow, and vendor coordination.
- Experience working in an ERP, purchasing, or inventory management system.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Microsoft Dynamics/Navision experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, mining, logistics, distribution, or similar environments.
- Experience working with inventory management, receiving, or supply chain operations.
- A proactive purchasing professional who can independently manage daily procurement responsibilities.
- Someone comfortable working with managers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve purchasing issues quickly.
- A dependable team member who takes ownership of accuracy, follow-through, and deadlines.
- Competitive pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour DOE
- Full-time Monday-Friday schedule
